We are comfortable to engage with founders at early stage, when the idea is still a little bit “rough”.
At this stage we listen carefully – ears wide open. And we ask a lot of questions.
Through pragmatic work, it is possible to turn “roughness” into “sharpness” quite quickly.
Typically Founders have a deep technical expertise – and they love talking about technology. But for investors and partners it’s more about understanding how that technology or business process creates an unfair advantage. There is a big difference between these two dimensions.
Secondly, investors look for Founder’s clarity of thinking. This reveals and tells how well the case is ultimately understood and considered and how it could be executed. Sounds easy, however, this is a surprisingly rare treat.
We have noticed that the best outcomes include typically a few key steps. Sometimes we assist across broader set of topics, sometimes the work is very focused.
